Leland Newman, LCSW
Founder & Clinical Director
Leland is the founder and clinical director of Routes to Wellness, where his work is guided by curiosity, presence, and a deep respect for each person’s healing process.
Clients working with Leland often describe feeling seen, challenged, and supported, without judgment or pressure. Whether you're looking to manage symptoms, make sense of past experiences, or reconnect with a deeper sense of self, Leland offers a thoughtful, holistic approach that meets you where you are.
Leland’s therapeutic style blends structure and openness. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and integrative mind-body techniques, he supports clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. His work is collaborative, grounded, and tailored to each individual.
He earned his Master’s in Social Work from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2018, after completing a dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Rhode Island in 2015, a pairing that reflects his long-standing interest in both the science and meaning of human experience.

Steven Donohue, LSW, MCLC
Outpatient Therapist
Steven Donohue is a Licensed Social Worker, Master life coach, and National Professional Development Trainer. His therapeutic approach, grounded in empathy and service, ensures a safe and transformative experience for personal and professional development.
After completing his military service, Steven obtained a bachelor's degree in communications from The New York Institute of Technology. His passion for behavioral health and wellness emerged during his community outreach work, leading him to complete a Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
Steven has held diverse roles, such as case manager, clinician, group facilitator, program developer, and executive leader. His extensive experience spans various populations, including different socioeconomic statuses, ethnicities, orientations, genders, and beliefs. He is a two-time published author, editor, and contributor in the personal development and behavioral health spaces.
Steven combines evidence-based practices with continuous education to address issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, relationships, and men’s health. His relatable and supportive guidance is dedicated to understanding and achieving your personal goals.

Samantha Charnecky, LPC
Outpatient Therapist
Samantha has been in the mental health field for ten years, with experience ranging from residential psychiatric care, school counseling, mandated counseling, and crisis mental health therapy for children, adults, and families.
Samantha has an eclectic approach to treatment that is motivated by the strengths, needs, and goals of each person she works with. She frequently pulls interventions from cognitive-behavioral therapy, IFS, reality therapy, SFBT, REBT, Gestalt, and person-centered modalities. However, rapport with the client is most important; Sam will make sure her client is comfortable before tackling treatment in earnest.
Samantha has worked with emergency responders, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, veterans, active duty military, and those suffering from mental trauma and chronic illness. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, she has engaged in training that is used in the treatment of chronic stress, trauma, clinical depression and anxiety, OCD, abuse in its many forms, substance misuse, grief & loss, family/marital issues, adoption and foster care, OCD, and infant and early childhood mental health. Samantha earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from William Paterson University of New Jersey, having completed both Clinical Mental Health and School-based counseling.
